image SUCCESSFUL FRAUDULENT RE-USAGE OF 1858 4Sk ON ODENSE COVER TO BOGENSE: Extraordinary 9 Mar. 1861 E from Odense to Bogense with 1858 4sk Chestnut (4 margins; tiny chip at top right within margin) tied by fine Odense "51" Numeral with supporting v. fine blue "ODENSE/[posthorn]" cds alongside, and a partly fine "1861" "BOGENSE" cds across the join. Very careful examination of the stamp shows that it had been used before - and presumably cleaned - as there are light traces of the rings of a different cancel beneath the Odense Numeral! This fraud was not spotted by the Post Office. This is believed to be a unique example of the successful re-usage of this issue on cover. Very Rare. With Jensen/Hoiland Cert. (1998). (Image)
