EXTREMELY RARE 1945 ALLIED MILITARY GOVERNMENT (AMG) "SPECIMEN" BOOKLET: Booklet containing 16 panes of different values, 3g to 5s of the 1945 AMG issue. (SG 907/922). The 1g value is not included, this value having been issued after the production of the booklet. Each pane of 10 stamps is attached at left hand side by staples through the selvedge, with interleaving between each pane. Each pane being overprinted with large, continuous "SPECIMEN" block letters in purple horizontally through the centre of the pane. The beige outer cover is inscribed "SPECIMENS/OF/SUPPLEMENTAL/AUSTRIAN POSTAGE STAMPS" with burgundy coloured tape covering the staples. A superb and rare item. 1938 CRASH MAIL: Group of crash covers inc. 3 covers carried on the Douglas DC2 on the FAM 9 route from Santiago to Cristobal. The plane departed Santiago on 19 Jun. 1938 crashing at 20,000ft in the Andes. The mail was not recovered until Feb. 1941. Each cover bears an explanatory cachet in violet (2 different types). Destinations of the letters were Cristobal, Lima and Bogota.
