1861 Large Medallions No Watermark 1c green, 10c grey-brown & 20c blue (minor surface abrasions) Mi 6ii-8ii (SG 12-14), all with margins just touched/shaved to close, unused, Cat €1200 (£2275); and a very fine 40c rose Mi 9ii (SG 15) with good to large margins except at the base where just shaved, large-part original gum, Cat €3500 (£7500). BELGIAN CONGO: Early issues with 1886 Sideface 5c to 5fr unused plus used 5fr, 1887-94 Three-Quarter Face 5c to 10fr (ex 5fr violet) very fine mint and both 5fr used (the violet with a rounded corner), 1894 Pictorials mint (5fr with hinge remainder) & used to 1fr with straight-line 'Kigoma' or 'TABORA' (the 25c) handstamps, 1909 'CONGO BELGE' Handstamps 5c to 10fr fine used (the 25c with telegraph datestamp), generally very fine, Cat £2500+. RUANDA: 1916 'RUANDA' Handstamps on Belgian Congo 5c to 5fr SG 1-7a, the 5c and 15c with black handstamps are a little aged, the 10c 25c 40c & 50c (lightly mounted) with violet handstamps are all superb unmounted & are probably from the Brussels 'reprints', the 1fr with black handstamp & 'URUNDI' cds (none of these are priced used), the 5fr with purple handstamp has no gum but with Pierre Kaiser (2000) and Luc Vander Marcken (2015) Certificates, Cat £4880 (the 5fr £4250).
