image c.1856-1904 QV and KEVII Mint and used collection in two superb leather bound S.G. "Philatelic Albums" with metal locking clasps, one album containing British Africa, the other British North America, West Indies and Falkland Islands, formed with some care and money in about 1904 with nothing removed since. A few faults mainly to earlier issues and the occasional mint stamp adhering to the page, most however very fine with superb colour throughout. Noted are Canada 1857 ½d rose used with large margins and 1858 perforated ½d rose used (faults), 1893 20c vermilion mint, 1897 ½c - $5 Jubilee set of sixteen mint and $2 vertical pair used, 1875 8c registration stamp used; Antigua 1867 1d watermark sideways mint; Falkland Islands 1889 4d mint, 1891 ½d on bisected 1d mint (2) and used on piece, 1898 2/6 and 5/- mint; Grenada 1888 4d on 2/- wide space in original value mint (S.G. 41b); St. Lucia 1883 ½d triangle detached mint; Nyasaland 1898 imperf 1d cheque stamp on cover, 1897-1900 1d - £1 mint; British East Africa with 1895 2r used; Cape triangulars (38) and 1880 3d on 4d dull rose watermark inverted used; Gold Coast 1884 2d bisect on piece (S.G. 13c, £5,000 on cover); Natal "Postage" overprints; Niger Coast 1894 (May) set on cover with Liverpool "PAQUEBOT" handstamp, etc. A good lot with many other useful stamps. West Indies. 1687-1885 Letters and ephemera, including 1687-1781 London Gazette newspapers containing postal notices or other news concerning the West Indies (16), maps (10), 1804 naval order from Admiral James Dacres sent from the "Thames" at Manchinelle Bay ordering the "Tartar" to proceed from St. Domingo to Cuba with civilians seeking protection from assassination by the negros and then proceed to Port Royal, 1805 order from Dacres to the agent for Prisoners of War at Jamaica, 1832 letter from St. Vincent prepaid 2/6½ to Scotland, and 1885 booklet on R.M.S.P Co. routes from Southampton to the West Indies. Also c.1796 entire with "N. York May 31" and "FREE" handstamp. (31).
