image A (Abyssinia) - Z (Zambezia) Old-Time Collection excluding British Commonwealth, variable quality/quantity per page on 290 annotated quadrille pages in two binders, with little content post-1920; peripheral page toning affects several stamps. The vendor's STC of c.$A48,000 (converted to $A from 1999 SG, Michel, Scott, et al) is illusory because it includes all defective items (of which there are many of particular significance), forgeries, misidentifications, variable gum condition, particularly MNG, replicas/facsimiles, and reprints, e.g. Austria 1867 25k SG #65a used, tear (£275), France 1870 30c SG #176 used, tear (£1,200), Germany 1872-3 9kr SG #27 used, tear & missing corner (£650), 1867 Papal States SG #30-7 mint (c.£5,200 as genuine), but identified as reprints. The Sardinia 1854 40c dull rose SG #18 used (£4,250) is 40c deep brown-red SG #20 used (unpriced, £225 mint); it is also defective with an extensive tear, while the majority of the content (est. 80+%) is largely inconsequential with every stamp CV to the nearest 5c counted, adding to the page by page accumulating cat value. Assessment will prove to be challenging time, quality & required reference book-wise, with the presentation being in alphabetical order, whether by country, colony, state, province, or region as known at the time the collection was mounted, and mostly with some disorganisation within a particular identity; however vendor/describer annotations should assist. Notwithstanding the foregoing, there are many significant pickings to be found among the detritus in reasonable to fine condition, particularly in Bavaria, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Monaco, Saxony, Switzerland, and USA with other more minor useful regularly found both there and elsewhere throughout, e.g. France, Germany, & Netherlands; this element with a current cat value of £15,540 (880). The Hawaii 1865 5c medium paper deep blue SG #35 MNG (£1,100 as MLH), and Modena 1857 Newspaper Tax SG #N16 used (£375) are not counted, and are 'as is'. (5,100, 4 covers) (Image1)

image A (Austria) - U (United States) Old-Time Collection in a binder including British Commonwealth, in random order with variable quality/quantity per page showing evidence of being picked over, and the quadrille pages are toned, with some spreading to the stamps. The best value is in the very solid 1880-1941 GB content with key values present; O/W generally lacks other key values throughout. Notwithstanding, there are plenty of lesser pickings present; however careful viewing quality-wise will be required. (c.2-3,000) (Image1)
