image 1936-54 British Commonwealth A-Z in the simplified 1956 edition of the Stanley Gibbons 'King George VI Stamp Album' of variable mixed hinged (on the heavy side)/used set of part set content. The collection is characterised by the omission of many £1 (or equivalent) definitive top values, however, eg the complete simplified mixed mint/used Bahamas 1938-52 set SG #149-57d (17) & 1942 'LANDFALL' ovpt set SG #162-75a (14), 1937-47 British Honduras set SG #150-61, 1938-54 KUT set SG #131-51b (20) and Leeward Islands set SG 95-114c (19) are all present, as well as odd complete definitive sets to 10/- top value, including 1938-47 Dominica SG #99-109a mixed M/U, 1951 SG #120-34 mint, 1938-46 Gambia SG #150-61 mixed M/U and 1937-50 Grenada SG #152-6d mixed M/U. The vast majority of 1948-49 RSW top values, and many other key values (eg 1949 10r Gandhi SG #308) throughout the range are also omissions. There is evidence of minor 'picking over' from hinge remnants on some pages indicating that the above omissions were never there. Notwithstanding the variable content, there remains a huge array of other pickings present including extensive Sudan and better BA Eritrea used in a presentation that offers an opportunity for expansion to completion. Cat No: Collection

image British Commonwealth A-Z as a mostly M/MLH KGVI - early QEII period collection in a heavy peg album (3.8kg) on annotated DIY album pages with the quoted cat values as MUH per catalogue. The KGVI content is substantially post-1940 with the first definitive sets largely comprising only the additional 'a', 'b', 'c' type perf/shade variations, and new face values, with only very occasional full sets present; including the 1938-48 Montserrat set SG #101-12 including all 1942-43 perf 14 & shade variations (23, £350+) plus a substantial 1938-51 Bermuda 2/- to £1 key-types array including the 1938 10/- SG #119 & 1938 12/6d SG #120 (19, cat £1,900+). The 1945-48 BMA Malaya set SG #1-18 includes the rare unofficially issued 8c grey, SG #18 (Note), cat £600, the 1947-53 India content includes the 1949 Gandhi set SG 305-8, and the South Africa 1949 UPU set includes the 3d blue variety Lake in East Africa SG #130b in a MUH pair. The QEII period contains many better complete £100+ first definitive sets throughout the range including the 1956 Ascension SG #57-69, 1954-63 Bahamas SG #201-16, 1954-58 Basutoland SG 43-53,1953-62 Bermuda SG #135-50 and many others. The collection is idiosyncratically presented, with challenging anachronistic and alphabetic disorganisation throughout, and the many corrected shade/paper catalogue number misidentifications should assist viewer assessment within the overall massive cat value of £12,300 (as MUH) in very sound M/MLH condition.
