Patterson, "President of the Senate," the writer, Dr. Odin Benedict, asks that he be appointed Postmaster of Union Ellery [later West Ellery, then just Ellery] because, "our Loco Poko P.M. has privately resigned and procured the appropriate of Wm Bacon…and I wish to prevent it." the pair has a full margin at the top and parts at the left & bottom, the cover has some foxing, but the letter is clear and easily read. A most interesting piece of Chautauqua County, N.Y. Postal History.
