1946 “US Navy Fleet Post Office Atomic Bomb Test Bikini Atoll” special duplex cancel (Jul 1 AM 1946) ties 6c airmail on special cachet cover to Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii. The cachet is from the USS Fall River Operation Crossroads Marshall Islands with small rubber handstamp “J.T. West Lieut. Colonel G.S.C.”. A similar cover (but signed by a sailor etc) sold in Siegel sale #76, lot 245 for $800 US.The USS Fall River was part of Joint Task Force One (JTF1) that sailed from Pearl Harbor to the Marshall Islands. The first test was code named ABLE and bombed a test fleet of 90 ships.
