UNITED STATES: Postal History; 1870's Bank Note Issues used to Japan ;Group of 14 envelopes, from the Benjamin Lyman correspondence (no enclosures). From Northampton Mass to Yokohama or Yedo, 5 with 10c brown, 4 with 15c orange, 4 with 1c, 2c, 3c, combinations, 6 with Japanese transits or receivers, two forwarded. Condition varies but a rare group to a famous man.

UNITED STATES: POSTAL HISTORY: 1920's to 1849; A Famous NY Local Training Ship U.S.S. Briarcliff 1920's to 1940 history told in letters, newspaper clippings, and photos of this fondly remembered ship based in Staten Island New York City, as part of the 3rd Naval District 33 Division. One of the trainees was John Cody who became 2nd Engineer on board the Antartic Expedition. Includes a cute letter and radiogram from "Little America". Contained all in one fat ring binder, very nostalgic.
