THISTLES & HEATHER: Two albums containing extensive collections of mostly 1900s-1920s PPCs on the theme of the two plants most closely associated with Scotland. The album of thistle cards contains a remarkable range of cards inc. comic card from Germany (poor condition) with pmk "FIELD POST OFFICE/+/12 JA/19/D 31"; thistle-shaped novelty concertina cards (3) of which one has label attached, one has label but detached and one has lost its label; WWI silks (7) mostly in good condition; undivided backs (17) inc. three with QV ½d adhesives; Scottish or Glasgow National Exhibitions (3); etc. The 'heather' album contains cards 1900s - early QEII and has less variety but inc. concertina cards (5) and cards with heather attached (3).
