There is a good variety of material, mostly being a study of various postmarks of Launceston (to, through and from), with duplex and other markings, as well as postmarks from Hobart, Hobart-Town, Newtown, Melbourne, C-Town (Campbell Town), Queenstown, Wynyard, etc. Also note a variety of frankings, with Chalon, etc. Faults should be expected, an overall useful lot for the enthusiast. image Treasure City, Nevada Postmarking Instruments, a rare offering of 5 original instruments, including a "TREASURE CITY / NEV" 32mm c.d.s. instrument carved in hardwood, also some instructional marking instruments, with "DUE", "MISDIRECTED", "UNPAID" and "CORRECT". Treasure City started as an encampment in 1867 and quickly grew as a silver mining town, up until the 1880s when it was abandoned. Its post office opened in June 1869. These were bought in a Southern California antique shop in the early 1970s, and only just uncovered. Very fine. (Image)
