Geoff Kellow stated that three sheets of 36, readily distinguished by placement of the overprints, had been identified. He was able to account for 42 used examples, of which 24 - including this example - are from the First Sheet, on which the second overprint is positioned upwards and to the left. (Image1)

POSTAL HISTORY: Australian stamps used in the Territory including 1945 with 'P.M.G'S DEPT C.1/QLD-AUST' relief cds used at Port Moresby, 1948 to NZ with 'BUKA PASSAGE' cds & 'SOHANA' misspelled R label, 1949 from Sohano (cds misspelled 'SOHANA' but the R label spelled correctly) with scarce 'MONEY ORDER OFFICE/RABAUL' backstamp, 1952 registered x2 both with black/white emergency-printing airmail labels, 1953 (3 March) KGVI Registration Envelope 1/0/½d combination franking uprated with PNG 1/- Lakatoi for "Comp 1/6" (Compensation) two days after the Australian stamps became invalid but accepted, also items from 'KAVIENG' (cds in violet) & 'HIGATURU', other postmark interest, a couple of registration receipts, etc, plus New Guinea 1937 OHMS with 'POSTAGE PAID/RABAUL' cds, 1938 with 2d tied by Brisbane cds & 'PAQUEBOT' alongside, 1938 registered air to "The Rt Hon J Lyons Prime Minister/Canberra" with Dated Airs 2d & 9d, 1939 air to Germany with 3d & 6d and 'AIR/MAIL' 1/-, and Papua 1942 Pictorials 1d x2 & 2d tied by Australian 'FIELD POST OFFICE/020' cds used at Murray Barracks, etc, mostly fine to very fine.
