POSTAL HISTORY: 1959 (Dec 11) OHMS envelope (230x152mm) for the Post Office registered airmail to the United States with rare franking of £1 Fisherman & 5/- Coffee + 1952 ½d & 1d tied by superb 'PORT MORESBY' cds, the reverse with 'INSPECTOR (PHILATELY)/PORT MORESBY' cachet that we have not previously seen, Sydney transit & large 'PLAINFIELD NJ/DEC/17/1959/NETHERWOOD STA' arrival cds in purple, light bends - consistent with bulky contents - that affect the adhesives, and a few minor peripheral tears. Presumanbly, it contained an order for sheets or large blocks of stamps. The airmail rate was 2/- per half-ounce x11 plus 2/- registration = 288d = 24/- with a convenience overpayment of 1/1½d.
