BLACK OVERPRINT: 'N.T.' on QV Perkins Bacon Large Star Wmk Perf 11½-12½ 1d deep green SG DO376, faults and professionally filled thinning, unused, unpriced unused by Gibbons. Unrecorded unused by Ron Butler and the only recorded example so it should be rated RRRRRR. Ex Rev James Mursell, Colonel Napier (I) and Frederick Hall: sold for $1395 (Sale 133 Lot 563). RPSV Certificate (1979) does not mention the stamp's shortcomings and Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2019) that states "great rarity" and "professionally repaired thins etc". Absent from the 'Besancon' and Don Pearce collections.
It is believed that this is the only unused 'N.T.' stamp in private hands. The '3-PENCE' on 4d listed by Butler is orphaned in an institution. (Image1)
