1947-59 Ball Bay 1d bright violet SG 2 block of 4 from the lower-left of the sheet with the Authority Imprint and Both Left-Hand Units Imperforate at Left, unmounted. One sheet was affected, from which this is the only imprint piece and the only surviving block of 4. Most examples have no gum. Stephen Bradford's unused single sold for $4030 (Sale 99 Lot 11) and Ed Garrard's mint single - the only other example with gum known to us - sold for $4140 (Sale 167 Lot 852). (Image1)

It has been suggested in the past that the omitted colour is the same as in the upper tablet & the flag and that this is therefore from a trial printing.
