1885-86 (SG.238b) 5/- lilac & green, perf.12 x 10, overprinted "POSTAGE" in black, Unused; together with the 10/- mauve & claret, perf.12 (SG.241b) overprinted "POSTAGE" in blue, Mint, with full o.g. (2). Cat.£1,300.
UNADOPTED STAMP DESIGN PROPOSAL: circa 1885 essay incorporating a profile head of Queen Victoria with the words "CAMBRIA NOVA AUSTRALIS" (New South Wales) and "POSTAGE ONE SOVEREIGN" in ribbons at top and base The design measures 22 x 26mm on light card, in a framed border measuring 58 x 62mm with "Norman Selfe del."at lower left and "Newman photo." at the right. Bends and paper discolouration do not affect the illustration. Norman Selfe was an engineer for the NSW Govt; some biographical information accompanies the piece.
