1 Feb.1938 (AAMC.P125) Sydney - Port Moresby - Kerema - Madang cover, flown by Barbara Hitchins; on Ray Kelly Gold Medal exhibit page, with a map of the flown route. Hitchins departed Port Moresby on Feb.1st but encountered engine trouble near Kerema and was forced to land on the beach at Auma resulting in damage to the undercarriage. Her departure was delayed 2 weeks and there was considerable concern about Hitchins' disappearance during that period. Only 2 items of mail were carried, both addressed to Ernie Crome.
