image 1916 poster “Field-Marshall Earl Kitchener of Khartoum and of Broome Born June 24 1850 Died June 5, 1916” (15 3/4” x 20”). Some edge wear and a few tears as expected, some older tape repair at top and water stain at bottom, but still remarkably bright and in excellent condition, considering. This memorial poster shows Kitchener who served as Chief of Staff in the 2nd Boer War, later Commander in Chief of the Army in India, Consul General of Egypt, and in 1914 Secretary of State for War. He was aboard HMS Hampshire en route to negotiations with Tsar Nicholas II of Russia when his ship was sunk by a German mine off the coast of the Orkneys. An incredible poster with deep, rich colours and very fresh appearance. (Image)
