Rated RRRR. Ex William Frazer. Lord Vestey's very fine example sold for £360. The 'Besancon' example - shaved at top & truncated at the base - sold for SFr605. Absent from Don Pearce's collection. Not recorded used by Ron Butler and we have recorded only two other examples so it should be rated RRRRR. Ex 'Sir Humphrey' (Brian Farmer): sold for $875 (Sale 118 Lot 449). Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2010) states "extremely rare". Don Pearce's larger example - a bit aged - sold for $1915 (Sale 247 Lot 520). Absent from 'Besancon'. Unrecorded unused by Ron Butler and we have recorded only two other examples so it should be rated RRRRR. Ex Baron von Ferrary, Theodore Champion and Philip Croker. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2009) states "extremely rare" but does not mention the tear. The very fine Vestey and 'Besancon' examples sold for £1320 and SFr2175 respectively. (Image1)
