Mint and Used Collection of Early China, 1878 to 1938, neatly displayed in black mounts on 18 quadrille pages, plus another 5 pages containing Shanghai and Local Posts. The collection starts with mostly used first issues, noting better items such as Scott #1 (c.v. $400), 3 ($600), 5 ($500), 13 (x3, $60 each), 14 (x3, $125 each), 24 (mint, $900), 40 (x3, $350 each), 41 ($375), 73 ($190), and so on, with some duplication, as well as mint issues here and there, including, Postage Dues and an Officially Sealed stamp. The collection contains 4 pages of "Junk" and similar definitive issues which we did not count in the total, as well as one page of Airmails, which we also did not count, which includes a Scott #C42, which, if genuine would catalogue $2,500. We also noted some postmarks of interest, such as a Registered Shanghai squared circle and various early Customs c.d.s. Last but not least, there are 5 pages with issues from Shanghai (incl. some postal stationery cut-outs), Postage Dues, etc., Manuchuria overprints, Kewkiang, Amoy, Chungking, Chefoo and Foochow, which are also not part of our catalogue value total, and could contain some better surprises.
