1921 Abolition of Slavery 6d red & dull blue-green Multiple Script CA Watermark overprinted 'SPECIMEN' Vertically Reading Downwards SG 91s, minor gum tropicalisation, small hinge remainder, Cat £850. For political reasons, the stamps were not issued and destroyed. However, Specimen overprints had been distributed to the UPU in the normal way. 1938-52 KGVI Pictorials 5/- 'Isle of Wood and Water' Single Line Perf 14 SG 132a, well-centred, small-part Kingston cds cancel, Cat £275. In December 1940, De La Rue's printing works were destroyed by German bombing during the Blitz. The surviving stock of unperforated stamps was sent to Watford for perforating. A few sheets only of the 5/- were processed using an old single-line perforator. (Image1)
