POSTAL HISTORY: 1945 (Nov 28) British 3d violet POW Airmail Postal Card to No 2 Camp at Chungkai Thailand but received after Japan had surrendered and redirected to "No 9 IBGH/Ranchi" (= Indian Base General Hospital) with Indian-pattern ' 305 /15NOV45' arrival cds in magenta, minor peripheral damage. Ranchi is in East Bengal. Both FPO 305, and the '305' cds are not recorded by Ted Proud, who states in Volume III at page 303 "...571 to 600 and 611 to 620 were manufactured in this type in error and supplied to the Army Postal Service". Apparently a modern Indian rarity. (Image1)
