1936 Airmail cover ex Melbourne 17 March, bearing 4 x 6d Kookaburra & 1d GV, endorsed Australia-France-Switzerland, to LA CHAUX DE FONDS in Switzerland, with Paris Avion 31 March transit b/s. 2/1d rate was for 1/6d Australia-England for ½ ounce letter + 5d for England-Switzerland.
1944 attractive handpainted illustrated 4 Dec FDC to NZ bearing strip of 3 x 2d GVI, addressed to Major D.A. Carty. Design features yellow map of Australia (no Tasmania!) & tree in the West. Has purple "3" censor's b/s. Carty was a known NZ artist active during 1940s & 1950s according to NZ National Library's website. First such illustrated FDC by him we have seen. (Image)
