1932 3d essay (or die proof?), biplane over volcano, whare & 2 Maori, in black on thin card (overall 48 x 77mm), for proposed new Air Mail stamp issue (proposal later abandoned). Design by J Fitzgerald, printed by H T Peat (Wellington). RPSNZ Vol. 1 p594 states essays were printed on white wove unwatermarked paper, but this is on thin card. Very scarce.
