1914 WWI cover to GB, posted stampless (on active service) with fine "ARMY POST OFFICE 23" cds AU 20 14 (5th Infantry Div'n HQ in France, very early in war, landed 17 AU 14). Fine crowned censor h/s No 122 (red) with signature (censor?) 1d P Due stamp added, canc Berkhamsted cds 26 AU 14. For the 1st month of the war, only 1d postage due was charged on unstamped letters (even O.A.S.) Minor edge tears, otherwise nice cond (& every h/s fine). Scarce item.
