Germany: ?1914-18 postcard sent during the occupation of Belgium by the German Army bearing three line cachet “Scout Contingent of the Imperial Commander, Antwerp” in violet. Over 900 German Scouts acted as messengers and couriers to the Military, mainly in Antwerp, Brussels, Liege and Namur. They were employed to keep watch over vehicles, and helped to dispense equipment to reservists at the railway stations. Fewer than ten cards with this Scout cachet are known to have survived. Photo.
