image CAROLINES: 1910 'Typhoon Provisionals' '5pf' on 3pf forged surcharges as Mi 7Pv x3 (one with blunt corner & not on piece), with Double Surcharge x2 and with the Surcharge Inverted x2, three tied to pieces by forged 'PONAPE/ (KAROLINEN)/12 7/10' cds, two tied by forged Ponape post office mailbag seal & one tied by both, Cat €25,000+ if genuine. (7 items) Our professional view is that forgeries have a legitimate role in a serious collection. Forgeries enable comparison and are thus a valuable reference tool. Of course, forgeries are a collecting field in their own right and enthusiasts often pay more for a skillful or beguiling forgery than for the genuine article. (Qty 7)
