1906 envelope for Le Courrier de la Presse featuring mastheads of 'Le Figaro' & 'Le Tempo' pre-addressed to Paris with 'JOURNAL STAMBOUL/...' cachet in blue on the flap and Levant '2/PIASTRES' on Merson 50c tied by 'CONSTANTINOPEL - PERA/POSTE FRANCse' cds, 'R'-in-octagon h/s, a couple of tiny imperfections. Magnifique!
1904 Chinese red/pink greetings envelope with Tablet 10c pair & 15c tied by scarce 'HOA-BINH/ TONKIN' cds, to Sweden with 'HANOI' transit b/s. Gorgeous!
1905 Peace & Commerce 10c postal card with very scarce 'SONG-KHONE/17OCT/..../LAOS' double-ring d/s and 'SAIGON-CENTRAL/COCHIN CHINA' arrival on face. Personal message mentions upcoming trip "...sur un Paquebot port Marseilles". Very rare mail from this small Mekong River office.
1937Hotel Metropole (Hanoi) cover to "Wallie Shiers, Airlines of Australia, Mascot Aerodrome" at Sydney with airmail etiquette endorsed "Hanoi Singapore Port Darwin" for carriage by Air Orient, franked with Tower 5c x3 & Airmail 30c tied 'HANOI RPP/17-6/37/TONKIN' cds, taxed locally with small 'T' in inverted triangle cachet, '.../19.6.37/BANGKOK G.P.O.' transit b/s where it joined the Imperial Airways/Qantas trunk route to Australia and 'MASCOT/25JE37/NSW' arrival b/s, a couple of heavy folds & repaired tears. [Walter ('Wally') Henry Shiers served as engineer on Ross & Keith Smith's record-breaking flight from England to Australia in 1919, and was Airlines of Australia chief engineer from 1930-39]
1938 to Australia endorsed "via Singapore Darwin Air Mail" with Junk 2c & Rice 30c tied 'CAP ST JACQUES/ 28-1/38/COCHIN CHINE' cds, 'SAIGON-CENTRAL' transit b/s of same day, flown to Bangkok then per Imperial Airways/Qantas to Australia with 'SUMMER HILL/9FE38/NSW' arrival b/s, couple of very minor blemishes.
1939Diethelm Co (Saigon) registered airmail cover to Switzerland with Tower 7c, Rice 21c, Dancer 60c & King Monivong 2pi (top value) tied 'SAIGON-CENTRAL/1-4/39' cds with red 'SAIGON RP' R label alongside, per Air France with boxed bars jusqu'a h/s applied to airmail etiquette at Paris and onwards by rail, 'ZURICH .../-9.IV.39' arrival b/s, minor edge faults at top.
1929Banque de l'Indo-Chine cover to Paris, posted directly onto ship to Australia with Landscape '90' overprint on 75c rose tied 'SYDNEY/-5JA29' cds where oval 'LOOSE SHIP/LETTER' cachet applied alongside.
