image EARLY TO MODERN POSTAL STATIONERY COLLECTION: Mostly unused. One of the modern items is the bi-coloured 20c Semeuse de Piel postcard (c.1960) with a spectacular 5mm upward shift of the sower. Also included is a selection of modern Lettre Suivie covers (c. 1994 to c.2014) showing a range of use, postal markings and bar codes. This is accompanied by published background research notes from the previous owner. image STAMP ORDER CARDS AND REMBOURSEMENTS (COD) SERVICE: The order cards (c.1942-1956) were issued in return for a fee to stamp dealers and collectors who wished to order a years subscription in advance. This study contains cards representing all the rates and card types with fees ranging from 50 to 500 Fr. It includes the use of 100f Marianne de Gandon and a pair of 50f Marianne de Dulac. A very unusual study which would be hard to put together today. Also inc. is a collection of covers and specially printed cards (c.1933-1964) used with the Remboursements service. (Qty.) (Image)

image REMARKABLE FRENCH REVOLUTION PERIOD CENSORED & RETURNED LETTER TO LONDON; Exceptional 15 Mar. 1793 EL (minor faults) to London ex Marseilles with "P12P/MARSEILLES" h.s. on front, apparently intercepted in Paris and internally endorsed, just below the dateline, 'letters do not pass to enemies of the Republic', turned and redirected to the writer and charged 13 sols. Oval censor Republican handstamp on the rear and endorsed 'to be returned to the sender'. France declared war on Great Britain six weeks prior and this an early example of 'service suspended' mail and important exhibition item thus.
