France 1870 Ballon Monte, the Lettre-Journalde Paris (Nov. 1 1870 edition), folded and "PER BALLON MONTE" with 20c blue tied by Paris/R. Montagnes / Nov 3" and arrived at Le havre (Nov 6), The ballon took 6 hours and 45 minutes to travel 392 km from Gare du Nord in Paris to Ples de Chateaubriand (Loire Atlantique), carrying one passenger, 6 carrier pigeons and 130 kg of mail. France 1870 pigeongramme on photographic paper from Blois (Oct 25, 1870) to Paris, France, by pigeon, a distance of 160 km. Blois was 50 km NNE of Tours, the seat of the temporary government. The pigeongramme was sent to Steenackers, Directeur des Telegraphs at 103, rue de Grenelle with a faint postmark visible in the address panel (3/4 down, centrally).
