BRITISH FORCES IN EGYPT: 1934 Sphinx 1pi carmine Perf 13½x14 SG A9 two complete sheets of 20 (5x4; the margins removed except at left) plus interleaving stapled into an unprinted blue-grey booklet cover handstamped 'A 2519' on the face, two other 'panes' removed, Cat £720+ for mounted singles. Rare: unlisted by Gibbons and not previously seen by us. Analagous to Australia's 1927 Canberra 1½d 'jumbo' booklets that comprised eight blocks of 10 stapled to a plain cover. (Image1)
