Ship Dawn" with fair (as so often) red 2-ring "POST PAID WITHDRAWN SHIP LETTER/[Crown]/LIVERPOOL" cds across the seal (prepaid 9d; red m/s "P9" but also having a partial oval "Ship Letter/QUEBEC" on the front with "11½" arrival charge; rare on mail to Canada. Plus 20 June 1832 E ex USA to Montreal with fair red "WHITEHALL/JUN [20]" on the front overstruck by mainly fine rare large red circular "STEAM-PACKET. FRANKLIN/CAPT. R.W. SHERMAN/LAKE CHAMPLAIN" mark. [A very fine strike of the latter in our 2010 'Montgomery' auction realised £500 + BP.] Good pair.
