1835 London to New York, Stampless Letter, two pages including shipping invoice regarding 25 casks of Sugar of Lead (lead acetate = a sugar substitute used at least since ancient Roman times) via the ship "Cosmo". The letter is signed by John Elliott of London and the letter discusses that the casks are different sizes to aid in sales and prices, as well as that the ship is ahead of schedule. The letter is headed with "Per Cosmo, Cap'n C.H. Lewis". Folded letter is addressed "To/Messrs. Peter Remsen & Co./New York/per Cosmo/Capn. Lewis/via Bristol".
