image King George VI 1937 Coronation collection in a banker box from the Golden Flyer Estate Part III. Incorporates almost 300 mostly cacheted FDCs and similar themed covers in four albums or binders. Entails thirty ship-naval cancelled covers from various ships including HMS Repulse which was sunk by the Japanese on 10 December 1941 and HMS Hood which was sunk by the German ship Bismarck both at the start of WW II as well as HMS Glorious, Courageous (both aircraft carriers) etc. Likewise, it includes forty different FDCs having the same interesting cachets. Viewing will find an expansive variety of cachets from Great Britian and colonies including Hong Kong, Newfoundland, Caribbean, Africa, Burma, India, Asia, and Oceania. From a decades long accumulation from a collector who had great admiration for the British Royal Family especially King George VI. Includes registered and censored covers having many which were checked for secret messages. There was substantial use of undercover addresses in Portugal for communication as an alternative to wartime restrictions. Lisbon being in a neutral country, became a hotbed for such activity, having mailings passing through about twenty such addresses.
