1949-59 Peoples Republic Stamps in a book (POSTAGE STAMPS/OF THE/PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC/OF CHINA - Foreign Language Press/Peking 1959) with the first 26 pages being 'A short history of Chinese stamps'. The illustrated stamp spaces on the pages is presented in separate sections for commemorative issues, special issues, regular issues, air mail Issues and postage dues, with extensive descriptions, and technical details of each stamp. This complex pages presentation is taken to be the complete simplified listing in the range SG #1401-1811. Also included are the illustrated spaces for the 1949-50 NE China commemorative issue sets of the same design, complete in the range SG #NE257-60 to SG #NE312-4. The overall content is missing only the M/S, the rare 1951 (18 Apr) Gate of Heavenly Peace set SG #1493-8, the postage dues, and 20 stamps missing from various sets, and is therefore largely complete per listing. The early 1949-52 'reprint' period is complete as either genuine or reprinted sets. The genuine sets include both PRC 1950 Foundation of Republic SG #1432-5 (£65), and NE China SG #NE286-89 (£925), PRC 1950 1st Anniversary SG #1464-8 (£55). The 1952 Radio Gymnastics set is present as the S/T blocks of 4 SG #1542a-53a (£1,100), commercially used with creasing and appear genuine but are 'as is'. There are elements of minor peripheral foxing present, and the hinging is very 'loose', and inevitable displacement will occur during viewing; PRC content (380), and NE China content (28), total Cat £2,490.
