1975 (Apr-Sep) Cyclone Tracy Free Mail mostly long-format envelopes including some Official Mail with Darwin 'PAID' machine cancels in red most addressed locally but also to NSW & Victoria, a few with minor blemishes and/or tropicalisation but most are fine to very fine. Tropical Cyclone Tracy hit Drawin on Christmas Eve 1974 and destroyed almost 70% of the buildings in the city - and almost 80% of homes - killing 66 people. The free postage concession was introduced early in the New Year and remained in place until 30.9.1975. Ex Woodchip-Free Zone (Rod Perry).
