Newfoundland banknotes, but with a redesign (notably by curving the tail) was used for the 1865 2c issued stamp. A great item to add to any Newfoundland stamp collection, very fine. (Image)

Two Engraved Vignette Die Essays of the Codfish and the Harp Seal, both printed on card with the codfish measuring 73 x 61 mm and the harp seals measuring 75 x 65 mm, each with ornate ropes and other designs in an oval. The codfish has "124" die number and "COD FISH", the other with die number "125" and "SEALS" and both have "British American Bank Note Co. Montreal" below the vignette. Very fine and attractive designs similar to the simpler versions adopted for the early Newfoundland 2c and 5c stamps. (Image)
