An outstanding and potentially unique mint block of four of this engraved Caravel definitive, with the inverted and reversed Multiple Crown CA watermark variety confirmed on all four stamps. A remarkable and scarce variety, extraordinary in its consistency and condition. Vibrant color with strong, crisp impression throughout. Perf 14, mint, never hinged. VF. SG £1900. image Bermuda, 1943. £1 Pale Purple and Black/Pale Red (SG 121ba / SC 128 variety). An exceptional, used "ER Joined" on “Bermuda” plate flaw, May 1943 printing, perf 14. Struck with a socked-on-the-nose Hamilton circular date stamp reading "5 May 1945". Signed on reverse. Hinge residue on selvage only. Used. F–VF. SG £700. Estimate: $300–$350. (Image)

image Bermuda, 1879. Cover from Bermuda to London via Halifax, franked with the 1d pale rose and 3d yellow buff (SG 2 / SC 1, SG 5a / SC 3). Although prepaid, the letter exceeded the half-ounce weight limit and was treated as underpaid, attracting a penalty of twice the underpayment, recorded as manuscript "8" due on delivery. Clean strike of a Hamilton "1" duplex cancel, with Liverpool and London backstamps on reverse. Backflap missing, not affecting any significant markings. F–VF. Estimate: $150–$200. (Image)

image Bermuda, 1942. Cover from Zurich, Switzerland, to Holyoke, Massachusetts, posted 24 August 1942 with black "ZURICH STADT" circular date stamp and "ZURICH 1 / 11-12 / 24 VIII / 1942 / BRIEFVERSAND" cancellation. Intercepted by the British Imperial Censorship station at Hamilton and examined by Examiner 4319, the cover was detained for nearly four years before release. Purple "HELD BY BRITISH CENSORS / RELEASED JANUARY 1946" handstamp applied on forwarding. Circle "T" and "DUE 10 CENTS" postage due markings with New York circular date stamp on arrival. Slight tears at top and right side. F–VF. Estimate: $100–$150. (Image)
