image 1942-45 group related to Pte Roly Small comprising undated cover to him at Changi but apparently not posted; 1943 (Nov 9) chirpy message transcribed from a radio broadcast out of Changi with the covering AMF letter advising that the message may be bogus; 1943 (Nov 14) two-page letter incorrectly dated "1942" from a member of Small's unit who states "...[We] went to a camp on the Thai-Burma Railway known as No 1 Camp Shuma Sonkuri ... [he] contracted Malaria & Dysentery which was responsible for his untimely death ... approximately the 20th to 31st July 1943 ..."; post-war Army HQ letter confirming Small "died of illness" & listing his awarded medals; and a piece from a 4½d Medal Wrapper with Melbourne R label handstamped 'Army'; condition variable. A poignant group. The letter was written from Concord Military Hospital (NSW) suggesting the writer had been repatriated on the first voyage of the 'Asama Maru' & 'Gripsholm'.  (7 items) (Image1)
