image 1927 (Aug. 2), Alaska flight, Nome to Anchorage, bearing corner card photo with "Air Mail—Nome to Anchorage, 700 Miles/via Anchorage Air Transport, Inc" caption; franked by 2¢ Washington tied by Nome flag cancel and addressed to New York; no backstamps, missing backflap, but accompanied by photo of Curtiss Hawk "Hoyt Special" (Nome, Alaska, 1929), typed letter on top two-thirds of "War Department/Office of the Chief of the Air Corps" letterhead from (and signed by) Ross G. Hoyt, and "Where Airplanes and Dog Teams Meet" Greetings card from Nome postmaster James H. Anderson with attractive map on reverse; a nice group for your collection or exhibit, Fine to Very Fine.
