(Sculptor) Felix de Weldon (1907-2003), bronze (and other mediums) sculptor, signature on #1937-8 FDC (18¢ Battle of Yorktown and 18¢ Battle of Virginia Capes), unaddressed. The cachet is of the Yorktown Bicentennial French - American Monument, which was sculpted by him. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and is also known for being commissioned to create the Iwo Jima memorial sculpture, among about 1,200 others Cat($60) (Image)
