STOCKPORT - DISTINCTIVE 1790s FRAMED CLARET-RED NAMESTAMPS; c.1792 front (with part side-flaps) to Rochdale with mainly very fine rare large distinctive framed claret-red serpentine "STOCKPORT" (CH740; 1792-4 only); plus 2 Apr. 1794 EL (contents ref. a daughter's sudden elopement) ex "Heaton Norris" to London with mainly very fine rare distinctive framed claret-red "STOCKPORT" horseshoe (CH742; 1794-8 only). The latter cover also endorsed "Wills" on the flap which was the Lincoln's Inn endorsement for mail to be sent to "Will's [Coffee House]". Rare pair. (2 items) (Image)
