image BELGIAN CONGO: 1942 airmail cover endorsed "MC Dorie EM/FP Leopoldville" on the flap, to South Africa with British 3d & 1/- tied by 'POSTES MILITAIRE/23IX42/CONGO BELGE' cds, large 'TROUPES COLONIALES/A 42 [coat of arms]/CENSURE MILITAIRE' label folded from behind & two strikes of 'CENSURE MILITAIRE/TROUPES COLONIALES BELGES' h/s in violet, minor opening faults. A real enigma. A well-referenced Wikipedia article states that the Congo sided with the Allies & in 1941 it adopted the pound sterling! This may be the reason for British stamps. Also in 1941, South African forces were sent to provide air training. This cover may be from one of those South Africans. There's a book and a movie in here!
