185? ½b black on gray lilac (Scott 1 var.), an exceptional block of 4 tied by one of two lozenge cancels on a folded letter from Rome to Ripatransone, 13 Feb 1864; the block has a frame line on all sides with a small part of the sheet margin at the right; the cover is fresh and clean with a handstamped "2" rate and four different backstamps, Very Fine to Extremely Fine. Sassone values the normal 1864 grayish violet (1A) block of 4 on cover at 21,000€ whereas the price of a single on cover is half that of the gray lilac (1c)., signed G. Biondi & A. Diena, with a 2019 Biondi certificate. Sassone 1c.
