image 1929 Mediterranean Flight then FAM 5 Canal Zone to Nicaragua then to US (Sieger 24 A var), Germany 2m Zeppelin (Scott No. 36) tied by "Friedrichshafen Bodensee Luftpost 22 Apr. 29" circular datestamp on large Roessler Air Mail Post Card with red Zeppelin flown handstamp cachet and purple "Mit Luftschiff L.Z. 127 ab Friedrichshafen." two line handstamp, to Postmaster Bliss in the Canal Zone, the card was dropped (as scheduled) from the Zeppelin over Seville Spain on April 24 where it received Seville machine cancels tying USA 2c Washington (5) and 5c Beacon (3 plus 4th on front of card) (Scott Nos. 634 & C11), then the card traveled by boat to the Canal Zone and was carried on a FAM 5 flight from the Canal Zone on May 13 at which time a "Primer Correo Aéreo Managua Nic. al extranjero" and map and printed signature Aug. J. Caldera, first flight handstamp cachet was applied, and arrived in Nicaragua on May 15 where three Nicaragua stamps were affixed and canceled, paying the postage for surface transport to Roessler in East Orange NJ, arriving on May 20; minor corner faults do not detract, still a Very Fine and wonderful—probably unique—card.
