1901, 2c PAN-AMERICAN TOP PLATE #1092 PLATE SINGLE MINT NEVER HINGED GRADED '100J', #295, an incredible stamp with everything going for it, perfectly centered amid jumbo margins, intense color and impression, pristine original gum, in short a SUPERB example of this attractive issue, with 2019 PSAG cert. graded '100J', unpriced in SMQ in this grade
It is currently #5 in the StampAuctionNetwork census of 163 mint never hinged examples. The higher ranked stamps are either grade 98 or 98J and are ranked higher due to their realized prices exceeded the sale price of the relatively moderate result when this stamp sold for the first time. The top example in the census graded 98 brought $8,260 at auction in 2006. Another single graded 98J brought just over $4,000 at auction in 2019. This price history indicates that the stamp offered here should be worth considerably more than its modest starting price.(Image1)

1909, 13c BLUE GREEN ON BLUISH USED - CHOICE VERY FINE, #365, 1909, 13c BLUE GREEN ON BLUISH USED - CHOICE VERY FINE, #365, an attractive used single with detailed impression in deep rich color nicely contrasting the bluish paper, partial oval Saginaw, Michigan reg. cancel, choice very fine, with 1992 P.F. cert., cat. $4,000.00
This example ranks number 2 out of 117 in StampAuctionNetwork's census. This particular stamp was sold in Robert A. Siegel Auction Gallieries, Inc. sale #1028 as lot no. 343 in 2012 for the amount of $4,720. No doubt contributing to the result was the Siegel organization's well-researched description which we quote here:
The 13c, both unused and used, is recorded as having been found only at the post office at Saginaw, Michigan. According to the Assistant Postmaster, John J. Spencer, "We found what was left of what no doubt had been originally ten sheets safely resting at the bottom under a lot of new stock, the coming of which had doubtless saved these from annihilation [or use]. They were readily distinguished, having a marginal pen and ink marking. We found a partial mint sheet and margins from several other sheets had been used. One or two sheets had also been precancelled. We were satisfied that ten sheets (of 100) had reached this post office."(Image1)
