image Great Britain, Irish Air Routes Collection, 1924-51, an extensive and wide-ranging exhibition collection spanning the Experimental Flights of the 1920s through the post-war period of service, all with detailed write-ups accompanying. The collection comprises 64 covers and cards, five timetables, and various other picture post cards and ephemera. Flown covers go in both directions across the Irish Sea, offering both British and Irish frankings and postmarks, several unflown covers, various cachets (both printed envelopes and handstamps), etc. We note reduced rate covers, resumption of the "All-Up" service, night airmail service, BEA Air Letter Service stamps on cover, Aer Lingus covers, "First 'All-Up' to Eire" labels including one on cover, Dublin-Liverpool cover with "United Nations London 1945" slogan cancel, commercial use, First Flight Covers, and much more besides. Date ………." handstamps with magenta ink "NOT" written to left of "Approved By:" and signed "D Hampton(?) and dated "23/5/68" in the same magenta ink; "C" with stray ink on front, still an Extremely Fine trio, unlisted in Scott and Gaines (who died in 1998; five years before the UN Archives were sold at auction), "A" is Unique, ex-United Nations Archives lots 3766 ("B"), 3767 ("C") and 3768 ("A") which sold for $200, $250 and 250 hammer each.
