1936-D 3½ Legs FS-901 (FS-019) ANACS Fine Details - Damaged Net VG8. This is the famous 3½ Legs variety of the 36-D. It was created as result of excessive polishing of the rev die resulting in a loss of detail on the buffalo's front foreleg. The "damage" referred to on the ANACS label is limited to just a small obv rim imperfection above LIB and should not have been mentioned. A perusal of various auction sales puts the value of this coin in the range indicated but it could just as easily have graded Fine-15 in which case its value would be double. Virtually all known examples are well-circulated. PCGS shows that of 313 total graded, only 2 were considered mint state. An ANACS G4 example sold for $504 at a Stacks Bowers auction in July 2023. Cat No: 1812 O102
1812 "2 over 1" O-102. The coin once had F+ detail (the rev is VF+ w/ nice even color), but the obv has been tooled (most likely to remove damage) and the face of Liberty appears unnatural. However, the over-date was unharmed and shows plainly. (Image)

Cat No: 1814 O105
1814 O-105 F detail, brightened. This coin has dramatic clash marks to the point where (3) prominent bars (from the rev shield) appear boldly under Liberty's ear, and the rev legend can be clearly seen under Liberty's bust. When this die marriage (Obv 5 and Rev E for 1814) were lapped to remove the clash marks, it created the R4 scarcity called the "single leaf" variety for 1814 also known as known as O-105a. (Image)
