Cat No: Collection
1918 over 17 -D AG Detail Obv Acid-Etched. The obv was acid-etched to reveal the date which is actually quite clear, and easily identifiable as the scarce over-date from the Denver Mint in the year 1918. Legend has it that the over-date resulted from the use of less experienced personnel being employed at the Mint as many of the more trained employees were serving in WWI. A problem coin, but suitable for the right collection. (Image)

Cat No: 1802/0
1802 over 0 Rev of '02 (C2) Fine Detail but w/ some moderate to heavy corrosion, however date and legends are clear and identification is easy. In MEGA RED, Bowers notes that " . . . . the half cents of 1802 were struck on poor planchets and when seen today are apt to be porous and rough, . . . . most from cut down large cent mis-strikes. Rare in any grade . . . . . the highest graded is an XF." Though considered "Not Suitable for Encapsulation" (NGC now charges an additional fee to encapsulate corroded coins), the label does indicate that it is Genuine. (Image)
