1817 15 Stars N-16 F+ net; even dark brown. Slightly rough on the rev but all characteristics of this interesting variety are present. The origin of the 15-Star obv is unknown. Though it is not scarce in an absolute sense (Bowers estimates 1,250 to 1,500 exist), demand is high because most large cent enthusiasts want one. However most are in low grades. (Image)

1818 "Connected Stars" N-10 XF. A common variety due to the Randall Hoard, still a very attractive even brown coin that would be great for a middle-date type. (A large quantity of uncirculated Large Cents mostly bearing the dates 1818 and 1820 was discovered in Georgia in the late 1860s. They were purchased by a man named John S. Randall and sold to the numismatic public for the next two decades. Mint State coins of 1818 N-10 and 1820 N-13 comprised a large part of the hoard. Coins of these two varieties, when in high grade, are generally referred to as Randall Hoard coins.) (Image)

1851 N-10 an apparent uncirculated coin but closer inspection suggests that the coin is likely whizzed, though 95% of collectors are unlikely to detect it. A late die state for N-10 resulting is rather mushy detail, still lovely color and smooth surfaces. Inspect for a better idea if this is a coin for your collection. (Image)
